As a Kingdom entrepreneur, operating in godly wisdom is the foundation for success in business and requires spiritual discipline and being intentional.

The tendency of too many business people is to trust in their own intellect and experience and not seek the knowledge and wisdom that comes from God. To the natural mind, God’s wisdom often seems foolish or impossible.

In the Kingdom, God wants us to depend on Him, and this is especially true for those who are called to serve in the mountain of business. God already knows the plans, products and inventions He wants birthed in the earth. Now, He is waiting for us to receive the revelation of what He has already created in heaven so we can manifest those plans here in the earth.

“Start a Joseph Business School… and, by the way, it will only take two months. “Buy that shopping mall” … with no shopping mall money or knowledge of how to run one.

But each time, God provided this ministry with the people, the plans, and the provision. Today, look where God has taken us-- a nationally accredited business school on five continents and online, and not one shopping mall but two malls. And He still has a lot more for us to do!

The Role of the Holy Spirit

The more responsibility that God gives us, the more we need to trust and depend on Him. Only His anointing of wisdom and might can manifest His plans and defeat the unseen forces sent to delay or stop the wealth our businesses are to create to expand His Kingdom in the earth. (See Isaiah 11:2.)

This is why God sent the Holy Spirit. Jesus said, “And I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Helper (Comforter, Advocate, Intercessor—Counselor, Strengthener, Standby), to be with you forever—” (John 14:16 AMP). The Holy Spirit is our Teacher and Guide and He wants to assume more responsibility for our lives.

The Holy Spirit will counsel you in every business deal, fight for you in every court battle (if it ever comes to that), and protect you and your family if ever threatened with harm. God has planned for you to triumph in every circumstance, and He sent the Holy Spirit to guarantee your victory! (See 1 John 5:4.)

Work and Wisdom

When we do God’s work God’s way, it reveals God’s wisdom. Work is designed to draw out our God-given potential (which is limitless) and show the world His purpose and plan for our lives.

Work is a sacred calling because God has called and commissioned every person on the face of the earth―whether a housewife, an executive, a factory worker or an entrepreneur―to work. Before Adam ever sinned in the garden, work existed. It was part of the dominion mandate in Genesis 1:28, “And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion.”

Every assignment God gave Adam required work, and whatever God assigned Adam to do, He also gave him the wisdom to fulfill it.

For example, when God brought all the animals to Adam to see what he would call them, Adam didn’t get the animals’ names by reading a book or from academic learning. (See Genesis 2:19-20.) He discerned through the Spirit of God the names that God had already given them in heaven. Today, we might say that Adam “downloaded” the names from heaven’s database.

So, everything Adam learned came from his spirit. God was in him, teaching him.

This is the same method that Dr. George Washington Carver used to discover over 300 products from a peanut. He said that when he went into his laboratory, which he called “God’s Little Workshop,” he never took any textbooks, only paper and a pencil.

Dr. Carver said that the moment he closed the door, God would pull back the curtain and reveal to him these mysteries. God showed Dr. Carver how to take apart the peanut and put it back together again. In 1921, Dr. Carver was called to speak before the U.S. Senate Ways and Means Committee, where he spoke about the Source of his unparalleled discoveries – God!

God gave Noah work when He told him to build an ark to save mankind. He also gave Noah the wisdom and instructions to complete the ark, which was an architectural and engineering wonder!

God gave Joseph work and wisdom when he was called to save Egypt and his own family from starvation during seven years of famine.

And, God’s wisdom operating in King Solomon enabled him to build for the glory of God the most extravagant and opulent temple ever known to man at that time.

And this same wisdom is available to you also!

God’s work, done God’s way, glorifies Him. When people see your exploits in the marketplace, you will be distinguished and lead others to want to know your God. This is why we say at the Joseph Business School, “Doing Business God’s Way.”

There is no shortcut to fulfillment in God and reaching your destiny without work. Individuals who have a handout mentality and refuse to work deny themselves this fulfillment. Sadly, without a new understanding, they will also miss the glorious future that God has for them.

If needed, allow God to change your perception of work. Position yourself to receive His wisdom by asking for it. James 1:5 NKJV says, “If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him.”

Jabez cried out to God to enlarge his territory. That means he asked with all of his heart. And what did God do? He granted his request. (See 1 Chronicles 4:9-10.)

Like Jabez, God is waiting to expand your borders and increase your capacity to receive new ideas, solutions, and inventions. Be Bold and ask Him. That’s being intentional. When this happens, perceived obstacles will turn into new opportunities, and a new spirit of conquest and adventure will overtake you!

Wisdom: God’s Word with Light

God’s wisdom is God’s Word with “light.” Light is knowledge or understanding that can only be revealed by the Holy Spirit. Without light, we cannot see where we are going or the solutions to our problems.

When light comes, we tap into the same mind that created the world, “The Lord by wisdom founded the earth” (Proverbs 3:19 NKJV). We tap into the eternal realm where every problem on the earth is already solved.

God gave us the Spirit of wisdom and revelation so that we can defeat Satan and his Babylonian system. For example, through wisdom Booker T. Washington’s Tuskegee University in 1905 surpassed the production output of Harvard, Yale and Princeton universities by producing more self-made millionaires than all of the three elite universities combined.

Washington was on his way to dominate the education mountain worldwide. How? By relying on knowledge given to him from “the inside” (the Holy Spirit) rather than from the external, natural realm, and he taught his students to do the same.

Revealed or revelation knowledge is how Jesus functioned in the earth, and God expects us to function the same way. This is why the apostle Paul prayed for the Church “that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him, the eyes of your understanding being enlightened…” (Ephesians 1:17-18 NKJV.).

God’s wisdom is part of your inheritance in Christ and is reserved in heaven for you. So, TAKE IT! (See Proverbs 2:7, 1 Corinthians 2:6-7,16.)

Here’s a powerful wisdom scripture I often meditate:

God’s wisdom gives you the advantage in the marketplace. You will be able see opportunities others (who don’t know God) can’t see, and you will know what to do in every situation.
